Maps take you on adventures, whether real or
make-believe. Whether traveling in the family car or spread out on my
bedroom floor on a rainy or snowy day, maps gave me adventure. As a child
I would spend hours pouring over the vast collection of National
Geographic Maps my parents had, as well as several Atlases and a well used
globe that still showed the Ottoman Empire. When those maps held no more
secrets, I started drawing my own. At first they were from things I saw,
but soon they became from things I thought. So it still holds true that
'Maps take you on adventures, whether real or make believe'. Now it is not
only the adventure that can be make-believe, but the Map as well!
